Online Therapy Throughout Maine That Support Real Growth

Action With Purpose provides secure online counseling for adults, couples, and clients age 16 and older who are located in Maine & New Hampshire. Therapy is personalized, practical, and designed to help with anxiety, overwhelm, relationship difficulties, major life transitions, and feeling stuck or disconnected.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, relationship stress, family challenges, or feeling stuck in a cycle that no longer works for you, our work is designed to meet you where you are and move you forward — with clarity, compassion, and actionable support.

Insurance Plans We Work With in Maine

Action With Purpose works with a variety of insurance plans for online counseling in Maine. Some of the insurance plans and networks we currently work with include:

  • Anthem
  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield
  • Carelon Behavioral Health
  • MaineCare
  • Martin’s Point

Insurance companies often use different plan names, networks, and administrators, so this may not be a complete list. If you do not see your insurance listed, please reach out. We may still be able to work with your plan or help you determine what options are available.

Self-Pay & Sliding Scale Options

You do not need to use insurance to receive counseling. Self-pay sessions are available for clients who prefer to pay privately or whose insurance is not currently accepted.

Our standard self-pay rate is $200 per session, and sliding-scale options may also be available for clients who would otherwise have difficulty accessing services.

Check Current Availability

You can view current appointment availability and request a session online at any time.

Don’t see a day or time that works for you? Please reach out anyway. Appointment availability changes frequently, and I may have upcoming openings that are not yet reflected on the online calendar.

You can email jeff.pickett@actionwithpurpose.com or text (978) 295-1585 and let me know what days and times you are hoping for. Even if I do not currently have the exact time you need, knowing what you are looking for helps me identify possible openings and plan for future availability.

Individual Counseling & Therapy

You deserve more from therapy than simply being heard. You’re here because something needs to change.

Individual therapy can help when something is creating distress, keeping you stuck, or making your life feel less like the one you want to be living.

People Often Reach Out for Help With:

  • Anxiety & overwhelm
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Addiction & substance use
  • Low self-esteem
  • People-pleasing
  • Anger & emotional regulation
  • Relationship patterns
  • Personality-related concerns
  • Grief & loss
  • Major life transitions
  • Loss of direction or purpose

Address What’s Hurting Now

We’ll identify and build the clinical mental health skills and strategies needed to address the areas of distress affecting you right now — helping you respond differently, regulate emotions, develop healthier coping strategies, and navigate difficult circumstances.

Understand What’s Beneath It

We’ll also look beneath the symptoms at the patterns, experiences, beliefs, relationships, and root issues that may be contributing to the problems you’re experiencing.

Build Change You Can Sustain

The goal is not simply to manage symptoms temporarily. We’ll work toward changes that feel authentic to who you are, aligned with your values, and sustainable in your real life.

Individual Therapy

Therapy Here Is Supportive, But It Isn’t Passive.

You can expect a warm, respectful, collaborative environment, and we’ll move at a pace that feels appropriate for you. At the same time, our work is not simply about having someone listen, agree, or offer reassurance.

We’ll identify patterns, build skills, challenge what may be keeping you stuck, and turn insight into meaningful changes in your day-to-day life.

A Whole-Person Approach

Rather than treating different parts of your life as competing priorities, we look for values-based choices that work together — so progress in one part of life can strengthen others.

Our goal is to help you become more authentic, grounded, connected, capable, and fulfilled across your emotional health, relationships, physical well-being, work, identity, sense of purpose, and the life you are building.

Couples Counseling

You deserve more from couples therapy than simply having a referee for the same arguments. You’re here because something in the relationship needs to change.

Couples counseling can help when communication has broken down, connection has faded, trust has been damaged, or you keep finding yourselves stuck in patterns that neither of you knows how to change.

For the picture beside this opening, I’d look for a realistic couple talking or walking together, rather than an obviously happy romantic stock photo or an angry couple fighting.

People Often Reach Out for Help With:

  • Communication breakdowns
  • Repeating arguments & conflict
  • Emotional disconnection
  • Trust & betrayal
  • Infidelity recovery
  • Intimacy & affection
  • Resentment & unresolved hurt
  • Different needs or expectations
  • Parenting & family stress
  • Boundaries
  • Major life transitions
  • Deciding what comes next

Understand What Keeps Happening

We’ll identify the patterns underneath the conflict — how each of you reacts, communicates, protects yourselves, expresses needs, and responds when emotions run high.

The goal isn’t simply to determine who is right. It’s to understand what repeatedly happens between you and why it keeps pulling you back into the same place.

Build Skills That Change the Relationship

We’ll develop practical relationship skills you can actually use outside of sessions — communicating more clearly, listening differently, regulating emotions during conflict, expressing needs, strengthening boundaries, repairing hurt, and rebuilding trust and connection.

Create Change You Can Sustain

The goal isn’t just to have a productive conversation during therapy. We’ll work toward authentic, sustainable changes in how you relate to one another in everyday life.

That may mean rebuilding closeness, changing long-standing patterns, strengthening trust and intimacy, clarifying expectations, or making thoughtful decisions about the future of the relationship.

Couples Therapy Here Is Supportive, But It Isn’t Passive.

You can expect a warm, respectful environment where both people have room to be heard and understood.

At the same time, couples therapy is not simply a place to repeat the same argument with a therapist watching — or to have someone decide who is right.

We’ll actively identify the patterns keeping you stuck, slow down difficult interactions, challenge unhelpful dynamics, build healthier relationship skills, and help you practice new ways of responding to one another.

A Whole-Relationship Approach

Relationships don’t exist in isolation. Work, parenting, family history, finances, physical and mental health, intimacy, individual needs, past experiences, and changing priorities can all affect what happens between two people.

Rather than treating each disagreement as a separate problem, we look at the relationship as a whole and work toward values-based changes that strengthen multiple parts of your life together.

Our goal is to help you create greater understanding, connection, trust, authenticity, intimacy, and intentional partnership — not simply fewer arguments.
